Memorial Services and Weddings

Simple percussion instruments give members of a community a creative way to express their rhythm "voices". They can come together with others to create a group rhythm expression of their feelings. Those feelings can be a joyful expression at a couple's wedding or a sorrowful expression at a friend's memorial service. A group rhythm is a truly creative way to express the many feelings that celebrate the lives of the ones we love.

These photos show our community at a recent memorial, creating a rhythmic expression using big "boomer" percussion tubes. The memorial gathering was to celebrate the life of Anita Anglin, the creator of these user-friendly "boomers" - marketed as Nita's Traveling Tones. Anita was a piano teacher, Reiki practioner, dancer and artist extraordinare. Years ago Music Explorium bought a  custom-made pentatonic set of Anita's boomers, painted the same colors and pitches as boomwhackers. We use Anita's "boomers" and boomwhackers to end our CommUNITY Rhythm Circles. We also use them with children and families at community events. At this memorial service we created an jazzy, dance groove using Anita's boomers and boomwhackers together. Anita liked to dance!

If you are interested in buying a set of Anita's boomers (some are painted in such beautiful ways and will be for sale at some point in the future) or you want to know the dimensions of the tubes for each pitch so you can make your own, please email me (Cathy Kielar) at info@musicexplorim.com.
